Craving delicious Pinot Noir? You’ve already been to Sonoma (a few times), and Burgundy seems too far for a long weekend. Perhaps Oregon’s Willamette Valley? Located just outside of Portland, the area has more than 200 wineries to explore . . . and most of them specialize in this fickle, delicate grape.

The perfect home base is The Allison Inn & Spa in Newberg. Comfortable rooms–that include gas fireplaces and window seats–overlook their vineyards from which they will soon harvest their own grapes. Spa-like bathrooms include soaking salts. Also included: valet parking, a welcome snack basket, Bose sound systems, and Wi-Fi. And if you can tear yourself away from your room, an indoor pool, jacuzzi, and steam room are available before or after Pinotherapy spa treatments.

But the Pinot theme doesn’t end there. JORY, the inn’s restaurant, serves Pinot burgers and chocolate Pinot Noir cake. Or grab a Pinotini while enjoying live jazz music on Friday or Saturday night.
